What does it take to repair your vehicle properly after an accident? Because of today’s complex vehicles and high-quality paint finishes, technicians need to be properly trained in the entire repair process to achieve complete and safe repairs. Here is a step-by-step guide to the care that goes into repairing your vehicle:
STEP ONE – ESTIMATE : The vehicle is inspected and relevant data is compiled into an estimate that determines the cost of repairs. Sometimes there is hidden damage that is revealed when the car is disassembled.
STEP TWO – INSURANCE APPROVAL: The estimate is sent to the insurance company for their review. Negotiations on price and procedures required to repair the vehicle take place. Once the insurance company determines the vehicle is repairable the repair process will begin.
STEP THREE – DISASSEMBLY: In this step, the damaged sections of the vehicle are disassembled, sometimes revealing hidden damage. This may require re-inspection and ordering additional parts.
STEP FOUR – ORDER PARTS: The required parts for your vehicle are ordered and availability is checked. Special orders will be placed as soon as possible (if necessary). The repair process cannot fully begin until all parts are received.
STEP FIVE – FRAME REPAIR: In the frame repair area, the utilized body (frame) of the vehicle is returned back to factory specifications.
STEP SIX – BODY REPAIR: Body repair involves replacing existing panels, metal finishing, and installing and aligning any sheet metal. From here the car is sent to our paint preparation department.
STEP SEVEN – PAINT: Here the car panels are prepared for paint, then primed and sealed, which assures good adhesion when the final top color and clear coat are applied.
STEP EIGHT – REASSEMBLY: In the reassembly area, final moldings and detail pieces are put back on the vehicle and the vehicle systems are checked.
STEP NINE – DETAILING: The repair process leaves behind dirt and dust in the vehicle. The car is detailed and cleaned, then it’s road tested.
STEP TEN – COMPLETED: Delivery of the vehicle is the final step. The customer arrives to pick up the vehicle, the bill is explained and final paperwork is completed. The customer drives away in the vehicle that has been restored to pre-accident condition.
